- Previously, I was working & living in NYC and was a member of a similar meetup group over there.......and am still a member. Wanting to learn at least conversational.
- List all areas which are convenient for you to attend events: 1) Westside & Santa Monica, 2) San Fernando Valley, 3) Downtown, South & East LA, 4) Santa Barbara, 5) San Gabriel & Inland, 6) Orange County, 7) High Desert

I live in Hollywood so I have easy access to most places. Plus I am the Organizer, Al Modir, so will have to make every effort to attend most events.....whenever time permits. I'm open to all 7 areas.
- What would you like other members to know about yourself? Why have you joined this meet up? What would you like to see from this meetup? This will help me to organize meaningful events.

Have been in LA since summer '06 and was member of similar Meetup in NYC previously. I missed the meet up group in NYC and the folks i had met there. So, now that I'm finally in da West Coast (finally I can toss that West Side sign {W} and have meaning to it) And I would like to organize a meetup group of like minded folks and attend cultural events pertaining to the Arab world. I am looking to find other members to help in making this group be an interesting and exciting one!!!
- What would be an Arab country you like to spend as much time as you wish? Why? Do you like Arabic music? Name of Arab singers or what type of Arabic music genre (debke, zafin, rai, etc) you enjoy listening? Do you play any instruments?

Algeria! Bcoz of its diverse environmental and cultural setting. Will have to make a point to visit Algeria or Morroco in 2008!!! I enjoy classic Arabic (Oum Kalthum), modern Rai, Debke, ghazal, zafin (Yemeni) and of course Arabic Pop. I play air drum, air guitar, air tabla......howzat, huh???
- Have you lived or visited any Arabic speaking countries (including African countries)? What aspect(s) of the Arabic culture/politics/geography draws your interest in it, besides being a Native? What do you like the most about that country?

Strangely, I have not visited any Arab countries. But I have had friends & roommates from countries like Morroco all the way to Iraq, thence my familiarity about the region. I have learned arabic when I was young and would like to get back to learning arabic.
- What is your level of spoken Arabic? Beginner, conversational or fluent or native. What is your level of written Arabic? Beginner, intermediate or had formal education?.or streetwise. Please elaborate. Would you like to teach arabic?

Spoken arabic is very rusty but written is almost intermediate. Hoping to get back on track and practice the language.
