- Introduction:
- "HI - After having served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rabat, Morocco from 93-95, I want to improve my Moroccan Arabic language abilities and I want to mingle and meet others who know and love Morocco and its culture."
- What is something distinctly 'You' which most people don't know about?
- "That I am very passionate about the state of AIDS Orphans in Africa - primarily their nutrition."
- What is your favorite Middle Eastern Dish?
- "Probably bistaaya..but closely behind is cous-cous and chicken tagine w/lemons...oh heck, I love it all!!!"
- How did you find this group and, now that you're here, what do you want from it? For example, do you prefer Middle Eastern Music events, Dinner Parties, Language Workshops, Live Theatre, or just getting together to meet new people and have fun?
- "All of the above - I would like a variety of different venues - I'm new to the area (live in Alexandria) and would like to meet new people through dinner, language music and coffee or wine gatherings."
- Have you visited the Middle East, and, if so, where and in what capacity? For that matter, where have you traveled outside the US?Do you speak other languages besides English & Arabic?Feel free to share whatever info you'd like.
- "I lived in Morocco for 2+ years in Rabat - worked at the Ministry of Health - traveled all through Morocco but no other Middle Eastern countries. Languages: French (rusty), Darija (very rusty) and English (fluent). Love cooking Moroccan food."
- Do you speak Arabic? If so, what dialect(s). Do you know Modern Standard Arabic (Fusha?) Can you read, write & speak Fusha? Answering this question will help us to better offer suitable language workshops for the club.
- "Speak Darija (basic) but not read or write it. I really need to find a conversation partner for French and M. Arabic to complete my language requirements for my masters and/or someone who is qualified to conduct the test."
